Pink Chicken Dresses: Woodstock Revival

Tots are bohemian by nature. They’re little artists, brimming with original and pure ideas, living and acting free of regard for conventional rules and practices (my tot philosophy!). When I saw these simple dresses in imaginative patterns, it was instantly obvious why they’re the most fitting of all to put on a little girl. A prim and proper fancy dress for a real bohemian artist tot always feels a bit contrived. Pink Chicken (names don’t get much cuter than that) is a line of clothing as natural and free-spirited as they come. Their fall/winter 2011 collection is arriving soon and with it two charming dresses.

The “Jewel” dress ($74), in mulberry or red cotton, is a simple but sparkly frock. With a below-the-elbow gathered puff sleeve, rounded neckline with slight V-opening, full A-line silhouette, and delicate binding at the hem, it is the perfect comfy, hippie muumuu with a touch of twinkle. Your little one will look like a bohemian princess in this.

The “Lexi” dress in deep purple with a white flower/snow-burst pattern goes one step further into the bohemian theme with its optional faux suede belt. It features the same relaxed neckline and puff sleeve as the “Jewel,” but is a bit more casual – no sparkles. (Didn’t I see a similar dress worn at Woodstock? Just kidding, I wasn’t even born then!) I want all three! I feel inspired to change the entire wardrobe of my girls to be free of all life’s encumbrances. If not now, when?
