Marni Color-Block Leather Wedges: Bizarro World

What do we have here? Marni has taken what looks like a shoe that used to be a sneaker, yanked out the tongue, stripped most of the laces, and set it on two layers of mega-platform. This is the most off-kilter wedge I’ve seen in awhile. I’m usually one to appreciate Marni’s sense of creativity, but this is more insane than innovative.

The double-tiered platform in forest-green and black (adding up to 5.5”) is not so bad on its own. Combined with the rest, it simply confuses the eye and does nothing to flatter the leg (aside from give you nearly half a foot of height). A seriously scooped-out toe with crisscross straps, touches of sporty orange perforation, and a dash of athletic-meets-the oxford lacing make for a shoe with multiple personalities. Or maybe just one: die-hard eccentric. I’ll be taking a pass, but what do you think about these wacky wedges? On Net-a-Porter for $650.

    1. Lol, these are quite clownlike. I haven’t seen a Marni shoe that made me drool in a very long time…
