Yves Saint Laurent Cabas Muse Two: Muse Two Take Two

When the original Muse Two came out, I literally ran straight to the store to buy it. Well, I drove and then ran from the parking lot. I was so excited because I was in love with everything about it. Then, reality hit. The bag does not function. At least not for me. You can image the disappointment. And then there was the Muse Two Redux, with top handles and a flap. Better, but not quite there yet. Now the once again reworked Muse Two (or should this be Muse Three or Muse Four?) functions like the Cabas, with a top zipper opening and easy access with the similar tab closure and hardware for an overall feel of the original Muse Two, including the color blocking. It only took 2 years to perfect it and for the color blocking trend to catch up, but better late than never! I’ve lost some of my previous enthusiasm, I’m not rushing out to get it this very moment, but I will in a couple of hours =) The original is $1350 but is cheaply made, it is on a canvas body with the leather panels sewn onto it (this reissue has a leather body with similar patched panels). So although more expensive, you are getting a better bag. At Net-a-Porter for $2,295.

  1. I got the first Muse and it would collapse when I carried it. Does improvement justify the increase in price though? I have to go see for myself.

  2. I love this bag and I am seriously considering purchasing it. I love the color block…but the bag that is entirely magenta is my favourite.
