Curious Critters by David Fitzsimmons: Natural Curiosity

I am so excited to recommend this one-of-a-kind children’s book by photographer, writer, and professor, David Fitzsimmons. His talents as a photographer are truly displayed in the captivating images of the twenty-one Curious Critters, from a spotted salamander, pink katydid, and softshell turtle, to a jumping spider and flying squirrel. His talents as a writer abound as he speaks to us from each animal’s own perspective. The American Toad admits that he is indeed grumpy, while the American Bullfrog lets us know he is the happy guy! Each critter exudes its own attitude and personality while informing us about their habitat, behaviors, and even food preferences! Written in language appropriate for four-to-eight-year-olds, this gem of a book is educational and entertaining – sometimes inspiring a laugh-out-loud. A book that teaches kids not to be scared of little critters when they see them or smash them when they see them in-person: this is a must-have for your tot’s library. Hardcover edition on Amazon for $14.36.
