Nina Ricci Python Liane Shoulder Bag vs. Agneau Pleated Besace: Do I Know You?

Nina Ricci, who are you?! Talk about conflicting viewpoints. With something as lust-able and luxe as the Liane, the label really needs to rethink their old guard; the Agneau Besace is an awkwardly girly mess of pleats and overdone details. Putting these two next to each other is a crime.

But here they are, next to each other to drive the point home: never has the term “out with the old, in with the new” been more crucial to an aesthetic. An opposing message like this is confusing to the customer (which, by the way, is who exactly?). If I have the Liane, I don’t want someone else with the hideous Agneau Besace ($2,475) coming up saying, “Oh, you love Nina Ricci, too!” NO, it’s not the same!!!

The Liane’s white python ($3,750), showcasing subtle gradient tones, makes for the perfect white bag that will remain looking sharp and pristine through wear. A tiny grosgrain detail on the flap is a stroke of genius – it breaks up the flap and smooths the transition between two cuts of skin. Even distressed bronze hardware makes for a flawless move; rustic metal is just the element to ground all the luxury and still enhance the lightly varied tones of python. The optional shoulder strap is also in python – they’re not messing around with their exotics here.

So I hope the message is loud and clear: Nina Ricci, move on!  It’s time to clean house and cast aside old, unwanted junk.
