Tarina Tarrantino Sparklicity Shimmer Dust: Twinkle and Glitter, Pouf and Glow

With a love for all things frilly, feminine, and fairy tale-inspired, Tarina Tarantino has taken her unique jewelry design aesthetic and makeup artist expertise to create a unique sparkling dust for your face, body, or hair.

At first look, I assumed it was the old-school perfume atomizer bottle that I was attracted to (so old Hollywood, just having it on my dresser makes me feel glamorous), but Tarina’s sparkle actually works quite well. It certainly makes more sense than those brush-on applicators that create such a mess. Most of the dust stays on the brush and then falls everywhere except where you want it (as if my daughters snuck into my vanity). With Sparklicity Shimmer Dust, you get to make like Tinkerbell: there’s something vaguely magical about squeezing one spray and – pouf! First, a perfect cloud of sparkle, and then you get the lightest glimmer of glisten. The spray applicator ensures an even coat, not that big splotch where brush first meets skin.

While the formula resembles crushed-up jewels, it’s made of microcrystalline reflective sparkle pigments without any parabens. But you still don’t want to inhale it, so hold your breath until the dust settles, especially if you’re enhancing your face with shimmer. I got a bit of it on my hair, and it added a flash of evening-worthy allure.

It comes in three shades: bronze, gold, and silver. Which one will bring out your inner pixie nymph?  At Sephora for $39.

  1. I have the gold but haven’t seen the other 2. I think I’m lusting after the silver now as well. I use it sparingly and for special nights-out, occasions, etc & each time I have I tend to forget I have it on, but always am complimented on my “glow” or “reflecting sparkles” (I tend to put it all over my hair), causing a moments confusing before I remembering what I’m wearing. I have had SO many women ask me what I’m wearing and more than a few ask if they can use it (if I happen to have it with me). It really is just the right amount of eye-catching flash, especially around the holidays! I bought my gold bottle last holiday season and I have more than 3/4 still left!!
