Miu Miu Ball-Clasp Lace Clutch: Pleats That Please

Pleated lace is sweet and sexy. Soft, keen folds create an ideal texture for the feminine fabric, especially for those who are tempted by lace but don’t want their clutch to look like a floaty piece of gauze.

Although, you do want to be able to see the texture – that’s why black would be a misguided choice in this case. This Miu Miu clutch requires a pastel hue to show off the delicate lace, though sky blue is too powdery for my taste. It looks like a souvenir you’d bring home from a baby shower for a boy. Needless to say, yellow is my top choice! It has an appropriately vintage feel, especially with the oversized ball clasp.

Pink satin lining (a brand trademark) drives home the sense of old-worldliness, and the pert kidney shape gives an already perky canary bag a sense of high energy. Better yet, it’s ergonomic when you clutch it. At 9.9″ by 5.5″, you’ve got a discreet size that’s not so small that it can’t handle more than mere basics. An instant classic with a tender touch. At Bergdorf Goodman for $685.

Pair with: Double up on soft texture with L’Agence’s square-neck dress. Lightly puffed sleeves and subtly fringed stripes bring depth to this pure-white mini. Available for pre-order at Barneys New York for $325.
