Christian Louboutin Catalina Watersnake Clutch: A Snake by Any Other Name…

Finally, no explosive shoulder insanity and no masochistic spikes, but a Louboutin I can really sink my teeth into. This clutch, with an optional shoulder strap, made complete with a coordinating, blingy chain down the center and countered with an easy, spare closure. There is something especially sharp about this for an all-around, basic-black evening clutch: it’s the dynamic chain that makes it feel not-quite monochrome – and certainly not boring.

Not that I ever really find snake boring. It’s called “watersnake,” but this doesn’t look like watersnake to me. I think they are starting to rename snakeskin to allow for us Californians to buy. Thanks, Christian! Whether this snake belongs in water or on land, it’s got my name all over it – and it just might be the missing (chain)link in my colorful bag closet. At Barneys New York for $1,395.

Pair with: Welcome some evening drama with Eugenia Kim’s silk-charmeuse headband. The of-the-moment, knotted turban-style is edgy, while the pool-blue color is summer-fresh.
On Net-a-Porter for $95.
