For the longest time the only thing I looked to Philosophy for were bath/body products (think Mimosa scented body wash), which now I can’t even believe! For some reason a company that made Cinnamon Buns body products didn’t seem like a brand that I could trust to make skincare that won’t leave me broken out. Turns out they can not only prevent my breakouts (seriously I swear by their Clear Days Ahead line now that I’m a hot yoga addict), but they’ve got some of the most amazing SPF products. I’m loving their new Help Me SPF 30 Retinol Day Treatment ($40), because it combines a treatment product with sun protection. Retinol, a vitamin A derivative, is essential for healthy skin because of its ability to encourage cell turnover and to reduce the appearance of wrinkles – most dermatologist consider it THE anti-aging ingredient. It also works to even skin tone and skin elasticity and we all know that broad spectrum sun protection is crucial for not only skin safety, but for preventing fine lines and wrinkles. The one downside to this product is the size – relatively small at just one ounce, but the double-duty aspect and relatively creamy formulation make it a worthy buy nonetheless.
