Emilio Pucci Marquise Multicolor Carpet Shoulder Bag: Magic Carpet Ride

Finally, at very long last, someone does a carpet bag right! Normally, any bag with the word “carpet” next to it lands on my list of eyesores. I have ragged on almost every carpet bag known to woman and never thought the day would come that I not only like one but like one enough to buy and carry it. Emilio Pucci, I say yes to taking a ride on your magic carpet!

And magic it is: theirs is folksy yet glamorous, in equal doses. The house acquainted itself with the sexy gypsy (peasant tanks and billowing skirts in exotic prints) for Spring ’12, and while the dresses have been tailored tight for Fall, this bag shows their eclectic spirit isn’t going anywhere. I love the beading detail, complete with touches of sequins at the edges; it is barely discernible and glistens just so. Perfection? Pretty much! Peter Dundas earns major points in my book for this plush feat of covetable carpet-bagging. On Luisa Via Roma for $2,403.

Pair with: Just a dab of hippie-couture will do you. Maje’s jacquard skirt is city-chic enough to cement your globe-trotter aesthetic. On Net-a-Porter for $280.
