Let’s hope it won’t actually be their final (far from it), but Maria Grazia and Pier Paolo certainly have the final say in lace-like laser cutouts. The duo – increasingly unstoppable with the each season’s big reveal – has seamlessly translated the most iconic of Valentino elements into modern classics. Florals, femininity, bows, and bedazzlement is all here. Of course, the brand is most famed for lace details and the designer dream-team has delivered. These black-leather booties ($1,445), a masterful play on peek-a-boo, feel fresh yet timeless. Ruffled combat boots ($1,295), a resurrected cult favorite, are sure to prove popular with untraditional tomboys; a row of back bows changes the vibe of an ordinary riding boot ($1,495); and lattice-mesh slingbacks ($995) have starry sparkle. But my second fave, after the ankle boot, has to be the d’orsay cutout Mary-Jane platforms ($895): perfectly ladylike, not maternally mature.
