Chanel Pre-Spring 2013 Collection: Out of the Palace and Onto the Street

Jewelry from Chanel's Pre-Spring 2013 Collection

Jewels (and ruffles and froth and pastel tweed, too) are in abundance for Chanel’s Pre-Spring ’13 collection. The runway show took place in the garden of Versailles so that comes as no surprise, and it’s also no shock that the pieces please and delight. All of the trademark Chanel details are in play: clusters of super-smooth pearls, this time in on-trend cross form on a chunky pendant and cuff; petal-perfect camillas, courtesy of silver metallic leather brooches; and the number five, which pays cheeky homage to the early ‘90s on the metal and enamel belt (more jewel than waist-cincher, by far). Those pieces are all about fun, while classicists will appreciate the silver-metal and strass necklace, a sparkly statement-maker, and the leather chain belt. But my personal favorite? The plexigass and strass cuff, with oversized interlocked-Cs, will keep me in the clear for pre-spring and far beyond.
