Giorgio Armani Two Tone Shoulder Bag: Italian Renaissance

I am love love love the hardware on this bag making it like something a mad scientist would tote her crazy concoctions around in. Giorgio Armani has been referred to as a Renaissance Man so it is expected of him to be ahead of the curve, with the new bag collection we can finally agree. The boxy shape is ultra modern so there is a bit of steampunk feel especially with the way the handle is placed on structural hardware and almost too far apart – the slight in-congruence, when done right as is the case here, leads to an intrigue that you just can’t pinpoint. The side of the bag is actually a triangle so it’s not a complete box, set against the body there is still fluidity and a feminine touch. Although the gussets are a different color I wouldn’t call this colorblocking, the tonal difference is needed to accentuate the shape. At Luisa Via Roma for $2680.

  1. Dunno if it’s just me but it feels like the recent bags of Armani are just rip-offs of Celine’s. These look close to the Trapeze, just refurbished differently. Wish they would do more to pull it apart.
