Primetime Emmy 2012 Awards Trend: Year of Yellow

Claire Danes in Lanvin, Kaley Cuoco in Angel Sanchez, and Leslie Mann in Reem Acra at the Emmy Awards

Forget any ladies in red. At this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards, stars lit up in yellow ignited the red carpet. Seriously, I have never seen so many yellow dresses! The sometime-quirky, always-perky hue is clearly having a major moment in the sun.

Julianne Moore looked chic and stunning in Dior Couture; with long sleeves and a full skirt, along with Fred Leighton jewels, it had just the right amount of sleekness and swing. While Julie Bowen opted for corseted, chartreuse Monique Lhuillier (because it made her “look like a girl,” as she joked), and Kaley Cuoco also elected a strapless gown, courtesy of Angel SanchezLeslie Mann went a breezier route. The beaded halter-top on her Naeem Khan dress is the perfect counterpart to an explosive lemon-meringue skirt; turquoise earrings brought a perfect extra pop. But it was Claire Danes in delicious canary Lanvinwho stole the show. The pregnant Best Actress in a Drama winner was glowing, and while you can credit her blossoming belly, the easy, flowy gown complemented her perfectly. With an arm of gold bangles and a smoky eye, the mother-to-be showed us effortlessly is the best way to wear yellow.
