Looks like I’ll be adapting a new persona come Spring: just call me Prima-Ballerina Tina! I am thoroughly inspired – obsessed, even – with Vera Wang’s awe-striking ballet-inspired platform sandals. She described her collection as “paying homage to the romantic beauty and sensuality of India,” which amounted to an explosion of addictive jewel tones in damask and guipere. The texture and colors may be all about Eastern opulence, but the silhouettes – equal parts slim, slender, and sheer and poufy, belled, and tutu-esque – conjured images of the most delicate dancer’s stage.
Just when I had sworn off platforms! (Well, temporarily, of course.) Now these satin sensations, in the most sensuous shades of blush and nude, come along to sweep me off my pointy stilettos. With seamed raffia to roughen them up just enough and thick ribbons galore, Vera’s peep-toe python sandals add loads of height and better yet, wrap your feet up like they are precious presents. Culminating in explosive bows at the heel, there is no doubt I’ll be tying on my dancing shoes in a matter of a few months.
