Florence is known for its pastas, pizzas, and vino, but Kelly and I wanted to sweeten up the city with some pastel jewels from Anton Heunis. The Madrid-based designer creates his collections around everything from historical figures to moments in pop culture (Avatar and Blade Runner are just two film examples) to overarching ideas like eternity. For one of our Luisa via Roma Style Lab shoots with photographer Tommaso Fontanella, we had our model don Heunis’s lime-colored earrings ($316) and a rainbow Candy Store collection necklace ($513). The variety of shades on the statement pieces played up her floral MSGM top ($415) and pants ($415) with just an itty bit of shine. The earrings (inspired by Miss Brigitte Bardot) have a vintage element with their huge framed cabochon stones, but were modernized with the bright, pointed crystals. The necklace is even more fun (don’t the stones look like candy buttons??), mixing metals as well as polished confection-colored beads and Swarovski crystals to create a sugary treat that Willy Wonka himself would envy. By the end of the shoot, I didn’t know if I wanted to go buy flowers or candy – but why would I ever limit myself to just one? On Luisa via Roma.
