Oscar de la Renta: One of the Boys

Oscar de la Renta

Oscar de la Renta has the best boys collection by far. There’s a touch of preppy sophistication without it looking like an overzealous fashionista mom used her poor boy as a canvas (not the best way for him to make friends on the playground). The shirts are basic as are the pants, and that’s what guys (little guys included) like best. There are orange and blue check long-sleeve button-ups ($85 each) to mix and match with khakis and white pants ($115 each). White is just begging for trouble, so I’d go with the khakis – boys will be boys, after all! But it’s the coats I’m most in love with. They’re on sale right now, so it’s a good time to build your tot’s wardrobe for the year. The long, navy Loden dress coat ($337 from $375) would be your special occasions go-to. It’s made of boy-friendly flannel with crisp satin lining. Then there’s the plaid barn jacket ($355 from $395) that’ll have him looking like a mini outdoorsman. The suede elbow patches are just too much (in a good way!). The collection is available at Neiman Marcus.
