In the ‘80s and ‘90s, I lived for graphic polka dots and stripes (à la Marc Jacobs and Perry Ellis), so no one is happier than I am that it’s de rigueur again. Black and white definitely gives the print the most dramatic contrast, but don’t be afraid to explore the full spectrum of the rainbow. A whimsical print and pop of color can be twice as nice. So if there’s one trend you jump on this season, go for dots!
Alice + Olivia Zuzu Polka-Dot Tie Blouse: It’s bring your polka dots to work day! A sweet tie blouse like this one is office appropriate and somehow still fun and flirty. At Neiman Marcus for $242.
Bagels and Luxe Dress: There’s something very youthful and precious about the circle print on a dress. I would definitely tie the bow in the back, though, for a more flattering silhouette. On Modcloth for $52.99.
Motel Jordan Jeans in Polka Dot Print: I love the illusion you get when wearing dots on pants or tights. These stretchy skinnies give your curves definition and your style graphics punch. On Asos for $84.43.
Kate Spade New York Licorice Polka-Dot Patent Leather Pump: Dip in dots with Kate Spade’s pointed pumps. The designer loves graphic prints, so a few of her pieces will go a long way this season. At Neiman Marcus for $298.
Marc by Marc Jacobs Take Me Dots Snake Embossed Leather Tote: Connect the dots on this roomy tote! Printing the pattern on snake-embossed leather gives it maturity and versatility. At Saks Fifth Avenue for $298.
