Get the Look: Bar Refaeli’s Tan

Bar+Refaeli+Tops+Knit+Top+l2XIS3gZ7FjlYou know when it’s time to stop dating someone? When they say something like “when’s the last time you went to Miami? You look REALLY pale.” Ya… as if I wasn’t self conscious enough about my pale skin! I’m going to Hong Kong and Australia in a week and hopefully I’ll be getting some rays, but in the meantime I would love to look less like a ghost and more like Bar (wouldn’t we all…). Luckily we don’t need to spend hours in the sun to get a tan. There are however a few things to remember when going the self-tanner route. First off, always exfoliate your body from heat-to-toe so that you’re sure you’re applying color to a clean coat of flake-free skin. Next, note that the skin on your hands, elbows and feet is very thin so go easy on the lotion in those areas or risk over-coloring (check-out this UK fave that just launched in the US –  Vita Liberata). For a healthy glow you’ll want to apply a highlighting tan illuminator on your decolletage and arms (check-out this one from St Tropez). For your face if you don’t want to go the gradual self-tanner route (the best option because you’re in control of your tan – just make sure to give yourself at least three days before you want to be rocking your optimal shade), add some foundation into your moisturizer or reach for a tinted foundation.
