What’s in a name change? Much more than just a controversial moniker, when Hedi Slimane has his hands on things. The rebranding of Yves Saint Laurent has been an amazing effort, unveiling bags that make my heart palpitate once again.
Everyone wants cool hardware and an interesting closure, but sometimes that just manifests into overly complex and annoying. Not here. This tab system is artsy, sophisticated, and functional, with no gratuitous complications to be found. The simple shape is fine by me; one statement detail is all you need. And then the color: this green – well, any green this season is hot (especially if you consider you’re getting a jump on Pantone’s shade of the year, emerald) – but this green, in particular, delivers. It makes me think of the first growth of leaves in the spring. All that is new and vibrant – much like the Lulu herself. At Luisa via Roma for $1,690.
