Colorblocking is here to stay, at least for the next season or two. If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em! Like all-over studs and heavy hardware, blocks of color started out as a big, bold trend and now they are a wardrobe mainstay. It has been a very, very long time since I found myself aching for a Fendi bag (as in, way before colorblocking was the sudden rage!). Suddenly, Karl and his collages are pulling me back to the house.
There’s a casual verve to these geometric creations, but there’s more than meets the eye. The Rush clutch ($1,490 at Neiman Marcus) is a slim package that’s heavy on texture (stingray, snake, and calfskin, to name a few!), and the Claudia shoulder bag ($2,890 at Neiman Marcus) projects a twisted ladylike attitude.
From the relatively sleek 2Jours tote ($2,214 on Farfetch) to the more-muted Chameleon crossbody ($1,880 at Neiman Marcus) to the iconic Baguette ($2,290 at Saks Fifth Avenue), coated in sequins: Fendi has really taken shape. Rather than haphazardly throwing around colors and shapes, hoping for the best, each is a deceptively methodical collage of the Fendi logo. Now the question is…which one?
