I’m on the fence when it comes to vitamin supplements. For every study that says they work, there’s one that says all you do is pee them out. Obviously it’s best to get everything you need from the foods you eat, but that isn’t necessarily always possible (and if you live in a city like New York getting enough Vitamin D is literaly impossible during much of the year). With that in mind I’ve been taking a handful of vitamins every day for years – no harm and lots of potential good. Now a new website, Hum Nutrition, is here to give us a personalized regimen. All you do is fill out a three minutes questionnaire and within 48 hours (it only took a few hours for them to get back to me), you get a “prescription” put together by a Registered Dietitian – ie no computer generated recommendations here.

I was pleasantly surprised that they recommended Calcium, Vitamin D, and a Probiotic for me, all of which are things I take already (along with a supplement for hair and nail growth). Better yet the website automatically sends you refills every four weeks (their supplements are $4.95 and $49.95 per 28 days), but you can cancel at any time. Not only is the concept of the personalized vitamin site awesome, but the supplements have cheeky names (Pimp my Calcium, Skinny Bird, and Here Comes The Sun…), and come in fun, bright packaging that blow all the other brand name supplements I’ve seen out of the water.
