Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder Giveaway: Special Effects

Congrats to Courtney H. of Charlottesville, VA and Diya Fu of Austin, TX – winners of the Hourglass giveaway!
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder Giveaway

Hourglass’ Ambient Lighting Powder just landed on Sephora’s Hot Now List and here’s why – rather than use one of those countless Instagram filters, these powders will give you the Photoshopped look in person! The six shades ($45 each – check them out below) provide different types of ambient light, ranging from a moonlit glow to a candlelit one to even radiant sunlight (who wants harsh lighting, though?). Each helps in a different way. The diffused light improves the appearance of Rosacea, the pale yellow reduces redness and leaves you with clear-looking skin, and the dim light (my pick!) blurs out all of your imperfections. Mix and match if you like – blur out acne-scarred cheeks while putting ethereal light around your eyes and nose.

Still not sure which to get? That’s no problem because we’ll be giving two readers the chance to win full sets (retail price: $270 each). For a chance to win, like the Snob Essentials Facebook page, then write in the comments section below that you’ve entered. The giveaway will end on August 2nd, when a random computerized drawing will select the two winners. Good luck!

Ethereal Light: A sheer, cool tone that eliminates shine and mimics a moonlit glow – even in broad daylight.
Diffused Light: A soft and warm pale yellow that reduces redness, eliminates shine, and gives skin clarity.
Dim Light: A neutral beige that provides the perfect balance of warm and cool tones to blur imperfections.
Mood Light: A sheer lavender pink that mimics the softest, most forgiving light and brightens the complexion.
Luminous Light: A champagne pearl that creates an incandescent candlelit glow—day or night.
Radiant Light: A sun-kissed golden beige that enhances the overall complexion with believable, subtle warmth.

  1. I’m curious how this works on medium (carmel) complexioned skin tones. Most certainly am looking for something that blurs out slightly acne-scarred cheeks, but can also provide a glow. Looks like a great product.

  2. I’ve entered the contest. Love Hourglass primer and would like to add powder to my limited collection of the one product.

  3. I’ve entered!!!! I hope I win….. I’ve been wanting to try the ambient lighting powder since it came out, but I dont know which one to try! Thank you!

  4. I “liked” you! I already have Diffused and Luminous is next on my “to buy” list. Would love to try them all!

  5. Hi, just want to thank SnobEssentials and Hourglass cosmetics for the wonderful Ambient Lighting Powder collection. I have tried them all, and they work wonders.

    Just a quick review from a reader…

My skin is normal and great so I usually don’t wear much make up. However, this powder collection is great to use with or without make up.

When worn without makeup the cool translucent color fixes any discoloration. Worn with foundation or tinted moisturizer enhances my skin and sets the make up. It isn’t cakey, and gives a natural finish.
The warm pale yellow is good for any red spots or discoloration. Sometimes, I use my finger and put some on my eyelids if they are swollen from the night before. It not only makes it seem more natural, but also gives my eyelids a natural finish.
The neutral beige is a good powder to use for light contouring if your skin is on the lighter side. This is what I did, and it looks natural.
The sheer lavender pink shade and champagne pearl are great for the cheeks or eyelid. They can doubled as both highlighters and eye shadows as for most of the shades in this collection, in my opinion, which makes this collection very versatile.
Golden beige is a great overall shade to use as a bronzer. I can foresee myself using this with my Lancome bronzer in the winter to achieve the summery glowy look.

Overall, I love the natural finish, great quality, and versatility of this collection. Every single shade could be used on one’s face for a morning routine and it won’t look overdone, instead, it would just make you look amazing like you’ve had the best sleep of your life. The shimmers aren’t overwhelming and can be used for many purposes and balances and enhances one’s natural skin tone.
