I’ve been obsessed with Schwinn beach cruisers since I was a kid. I would ride mine to Dairy Queen almost daily for a cone. My favorite childhood memories are of those carefree summer afternoon: cycling in the Southern California sun with a rainbow sherbert in hand and the wind blowing through my hair. I love that Peddler’s Creamery is bringing them back! The L.A. store isn’t your typical ice cream shop – they whip up their cool treats with bicycle power. Think of all the ice cream your SoulCycle class could make! Founder Edward Belden (who worked at Baskin-Robbins while growing up) thought of the idea while biking past an ice cream shop, and with the help of funds from Kickstarter, it was up and running – or cycling, really. They use local, organic ingredients and even offer non-dairy options for vegans. All sorts of flavors from basic vanilla to kumquat sorbet! If you’re an Angeleno, be sure to bike your way over for some ice cream at Peddler’s.
