Fall 2013 Aveda Collection

I recently spoke with NET-A-PORTER’s president Alison Loehnis about fashion trends and she said that muted shades, especially pink, will be big for the fall. It’s no secret that beauty often takes its cue from fashion, so the Fall 2013 Aveda collection seems to be on the right track. I have to say I’m not one for muted anything; I like high shine lips and dewy skin, but I can still appreciate where Aveda is coming from with their botanically-based collection “inspired by simpler times.” The palette skews on the natural side. None of the colors are too saturated and the line-up includes two Nourish-mint Rehydrating Lip Glazes, two Nourish-Mint Definers, two Nourish-Mint Lip Liners, and two Petal Essence Single Eye Colors. Everything in the collection is reasonably priced at under $20, and I received some samples to try out. While the colors aren’t so much my style, the shadows are steadfast, don’t crease, and go on smooth, and some of them do have a slight shimmer. I also love that their lip products are carmine-free…so gross thinking that most lip products lining beauty aisles are formulated with bug parts! Ew, ew, ew!! In fact all of Aveda’s lip products are made with plant and fruit waxes so they also appeal taste-wise. Check-out the full collection here!
