Just looking at the picture above has me jumping in my skin with excitement. Tom Fordicon reminds me of why I love makeup so much. He knows that it’s about more than just color. The texture and packaging have to be as immaculate, and he has managed to far and away always exceed expectations – and I’d venture to guess that anyone who thinks that sounds over-the-top hasn’t been to a Tom Ford Beauty counter! His full Fall 2013 beauty collection hits counters in September, and when I got the dark shadow palette called Ombre Eye Color in She Wolf ($60), I couldn’t wait to try it. I literally had just come back from the gym, took a quick shower and immediately tried it on. It’s the ultimate dark smoky eye palette (love that the shades have different finishes so they work just as well alone as they do together), and the shades glide on velvet smooth even without a primer. That said Tom Ford has just launched an eye primer and if you’re looking for a look that will last you all day and through the night I would suggest layering it on first to strengthen the hold. Also worth singling out is his new Eye Defining Pen in Deeper ($55), which makes lining your eyes and playing with trends like winged tips as quick, easy, and tear-free as possible thanks to a fine calligraphy tip. Lastly, inspired by the image below I tried out his new Bruised Plum ($49) lip shade, but alas try as I may I cannot for the life of me pull off a deep lip so chapstick and smokey eye it is! The lipstick does taste yummy though and how often do we say that?
