Givenchy Medium Lucrezia Bag: Rebel Yelp

Givenchy_Bag

Givenchy’s Lucrezia bag is a current classic for modern snobs who aren’t afraid of a little edge or to take a risk (see Rihanna carrying it in lilac-pink). While we’re used to seeing it in color or alligator-stamped texture, the latest edition just reinforces the fact that Givenchy isn’t afraid of a lot of edge. This time they’ve cast it in a badass and offbeat (and almost nonsensical) pattern that involves the American flag, the Virgin Mary, floral elements, and a family-crest motif. With black nappa gussets and trim, though, the effect is classy, not trashy. For the restrained, refined rebel who used to shop at Trash & Vaudeville in her middle school days and now frequents Barneys and beyond.

My only issue: the bag is over two-grand, and the slim majority of it is coated canvas. Unique and conversation-worthy, it nearly feels like a collector’s piece for Givenchy fanatics. It’s also priced like one. On NET-A-PORTER for $2,125.

Pair with: Tabitha Simmons’ quirky-classic Early ankle boot in scarlet suede. Buckles, zippers, and spectator-inspired detailing come together without looking cluttered. At Barneys New York for $1,190.
