Greg Lauren Makes One of Kind Pieces from Vintage Military Bags, Blankets, and More

The first time I met Tomoko Ogura she was wearing a Greg Lauren army green fringe coat and I’ve been obsessed with the brand ever since. Greg Lauren – married to Elizabeth Berkley and Ralph Lauren’s nephew – is an incredibly talented fashion designer who hand-makes all of his pieces using vintage military bags, army tents, blankets, and similar materials. It’s just about the coolest take on eco fashion that you can imagine…little surprise that Lauren is also a well-regarded artist. In addition to selling his collection at Barneysicon, he’s following in L’Wren Scott’s footsteps and has teamed up with the retailer to make his first fragranceicon. Just like his clothes, each scent has a unique, one-of-a-kind element. After the fragrance (a mix of marine notes, vanilla, and tonka bean…it smells kind of like a sugar cookie in the most high-brow way possible…) was completed, Lauren customized each bottle in his signature distressed style.

DO YOU LOVE IT OR HATE IT?

  1. Though I commend him for his eco-friendly approach, the prices for the pieces are outrageous considering they are made from Army-Navy surplus store items.
