I may have left Paris a week ago, but the City of Light is still on my mind, especially after spotting Barneys’ latest French import – Moreau. The maison was founded in the mid-1900s, driven by the style and functionality of turn-of-the-century trunks (rail travel was the Snobby thing to do at the time). After a change in ownership in recent years, the brand is now putting out more and more everyday bags, the best of which is the Bregançon. It’s a sleek version of the popular winged tote style, and in rare barenia leather – one of my favorites! This is male calf leather with a natural oil content that’s retained in the tanning process, allowing the barenia to age beautifully. And the interior is just as well made – it’s lined in colorfully contrasting goatskin and even comes with an attached pouch. This is for the Bag Snob who doesn’t seek recognition, instead focusing on understated luxury and long-lasting durability. Exclusively at Barneys New York in red and blue leather ($3,100) and gray croc ($24,000).
