TWO x TWO for AIDS and Art: Everything’s Bigger in Texas

This year marked the 15th anniversary of Howard and Cindy Rachofsky‘s TWO x TWO for AIDS and Art benefit, and to honor the occasion, art collectors, designers, and style gurus from all around the world flew in to fete the affair. The international who’s who raised $5 million, living up to the auction’s reputation as amfAR’s highest grossing event in the U.S.

Dallas doesn’t mess around – Dom and caviar kicked off an evening that included an award ceremony honoring Kiehl’s president Chris Salgardo (under his leadership, the beauty brand has raised $800,000 for amfAR!) and a performance by none other than the Empress of Soul, Gladys Knight. The MC Jesse Metcalfe (who brought his stunning fiancé Cara Santana) told me, “It’s an honor to be a small part of this great cause.” We saw DVF (who would’ve bought Tracy Emin’s “Trust Yourself” installation had it not been sold on Artsy.com before the gala!), Derek Lam, Mary Katrantzou, Claire Distenfeld, Lily Kwong, Noor Fares, and Eugenie Niarchos hobnob with artist Walead Beshty alongside Dallas favorites Nancy Rogers, Jennifer Karol, Brian Bolke, Sue Gragg, Georgina Hartland, Melissa Meeks-Ireland, and Deedie Rose.

Gala chairman Christen Wilson promised a hot night them and was it ever delivered! And while the main event may have been the icing on the cake, there was tons of fun to be had earlier in the week like Nasiba Adilova and Vladimir Restoin’s young collector’s committee cocktail party, as well as museum tours that pulled back the curtain on the Dallas art scene for all our visitors. Artist Alex Israel and my dear friend and art connoisseur China Chow were blown away by the museum and private art collections, and equally taken aback by the parties, which they assured me are even more fun than the ones in L.A. It was an absolute pleasure to show off my adopted city to old friends from NYC and L.A. and now I want to show you as well. Take a peek at all the entertainment the event had in store and don’t forget to donate! There are still a few auction items up for grabs like a Tommy Ton photoshoot and a gorgeous alligator bag from Elie Saabsee all of the packages here…
