Ahh the lengths we go to for a perfect head of curls! While my girlfriends with naturally curly hair spend a fortune straightening it, I prefer to do the opposite, testing out curler after curler in the hopes of finding one that will give me gorgeous waves. Here’s what I discovered in my search…
Bed Head Dual Waver: This hot pink number from Bed Head will give you loose or defined waves depending on where the barrel is locked in. But be careful, it can also make your hair a frizzy mess. On Amazon for $25.19.
Bed Head Rock‘n’Roller 2-in-1 Bubble Curling Iron Wand: Their ceramic styling wand looks more like a sex toy than a hair tool, but the way your hair ends up looking is what really matters and the bubbles works wonders! Just make sure you wrap your hair tightly around it. At Target for $29.99.
Conair Spiral Styler: Not all Frugal Snob tools can go the distance, but Conair meets the quality standard. With a ¾ inch barrel, it’s best for tighter curls. Make sure you stay in between the lines. On Amazon for $14.99.
Revlon Perfect Heat Jumbo 3 Barrel Waver: Three barrels are better than one! This will give you the best messy beach waves and is the easiest to use of the bunch. However, make sure you use a hair shine product for thick Asian hair to avoid looking like fried rice noodles. At Ulta for $19.99 (from $24.99).
Instyler Rotating Hot Iron: I bought one of these for Kelly and one for myself, but it’s hard to use for curls, not to mention, expensive. However, if you want shiny, smooth and straight hair, this will do. At Target from $87.99 to $97.99.
T3 Single Pass Twirl Professional Curling Iron: After all of my experimenting, I’ve found that classic curling irons are still the best curlers. This is my favorite for larger curls. T3 also heats within 10 seconds- no joke! On DermStore for $99.
Toni & Guy 1” Curling Iron: Since the T3 Pass twirl doesn’t have dual voltage, I pack Toni & Guy’s instead when I travel. I like that you can control the heat on this. At Target for $29.99.
