We’ve all taken the dinner and movie route on February 14th. Or cooked a meal for your love, gotten a hotel room or a spa package…and there’s nothing wrong with any of those plans! But if you’re looking to try something different this year, I have a few unusual Valentine’s Day date ideas worth considering…

Pitch a Tent (*ahem)
There’s nothing like the wild outdoors (if you know what I mean)! You can go about this a few ways, depending on your budget or willingness to travel. Set up a camping tent following the steps from campingfunzone.com, overflowing with lush pillows, blankets, and a comfy air mattress.

Or call a party rental company to do it for you! OR go full-on glamping in Wyoming at the Fireside Resort at Jackson Hole Campground. Just make sure it’s warm enough where you’re making camp – the idea might be worth saving for sunnier months.

Stay-at-Home, Heart-Melting Evening
For a steamy night, don’t even bother leaving the house. Melt away as you enjoy chocolate fondue from this cute, heart-shaped Chantal set (on Amazon for $25.23), then once you’ve finished dessert, switch gears with the help of this JimmyJane candleicon (on JimmyJane for $55). The melted wax doubles as oil for a warm, sensual massage.

Wine and Canvas
You don’t need to be an artist to enjoy painting at Wine & Canvas with your honey. While sipping on a nice glass of vino, make the art a team effort – each half of the couple painting one half of the canvas. And if you feel like staying in, just grab a bottle of your favorite bubbly and some art supplies! There are countless YouTube art tutorials if you need inspiration. Wine & Canvas locations can be found throughout the country, with event prices ranging from $35-$45.

Customize Scents
The power of scent cannot be emphasized enough when it comes to chemistry. If a guy smells bad to you, then he’s not the man for you, but if his sweat smells like roses, ding, ding, ding – you’ve got a winner! To be clear, I’m not talking about relationship compatibility, just physical chemistry. That is almost always the jumping off point for love, though, so why not create romantic scents for each other? Visit a perfumery, or make your own love laboratory at home and DIY!

  1. Really great ideas and suggestions for a romantic get-together. We love nature and use every free minute for togetherness in nature. With the caravan it’s so wonderfully revealing and informal. Everyone should have an experience.
