Flask or bag? Sometimes hard-shelled minaudières of the swingy, fun, freewheeling variety beg the question, and in the case of Roberto Cavalli‘s little number, I’m inclined to not even care. It oozes the essence of what a true accessory is and should be: something that looks great at your side, no matter what purpose it actually serves. It’s decoration for the human form, just like a giant piece of jewelry.
While the high-impact, low-function silhouette is super-striking, it’s the details that make it. Long, trailing fringes suspended from unique Cavalli-style hardware featuring a monkey perched on a tree limb (because why not?!) make for the ultimate in dramatic flair. The top opens up by splitting directly in half, revealing a leopard-print interior (again, why not!) that holds all you need, and nothing else: two cards, your iPhone, and a lip gloss.

As remarkable as the style looks, it’s also undeniably reminiscent of the Corticelli bags from the turn of the twentieth century, right down to the theatrical fringe capping off the end.
