Are you ready for the Met Ball? Miriam Haskell is! The costume jewelry brand has crafted a collection inspired by this year’s theme – designer Charles James, or as Cristobal Balenciaga once called him, “the world’s best and only dressmaker” (What a shift from punk to elegant ball gowns!). The pinning and tucking of his gorgeously sculptured designs is recreated in jet black starbursts, while pearl fringe calls to mind his sumptuous ruffles and ruching, the likes of which we’re sure to see at Monday’s big event. Hand-wired baroque glass pearls and Swarovskis would make the perfect complement to an elegant dress, but we’ll have to wait and see if someone wears one of these decadent jewels. In the meantime, plan your visit to the Charles James exhibit! It’ll run from May 8th to August 10th, and sadly, while there’s no fancy dress code or cocktails to be enjoyed, you’ll be saving about $25,000 on the ticket. More money to spend on jewels! Available from $350 to $4,400 at Miriam Haskell.
