Salvatore Ferragamo Fiamma Small Leather Tote: Falling for Fiamma

Salvatore Ferragamo Fiamma Small Leather Tote

This is my favorite shape in Salvatore Ferragamo’s curvy Fiamma collection. It’s out of a reissue of the original Fiamma bags from 1992, named in honor of one of Salvatore’s six children. Fiamma designed the brand’s legendary shoes back in the ‘60s. Flash-forward to 2014, and the proportion of the front pocket feels just right, enough to fill up the body without looking crowded, as is the overall size.

Such an amazing silhouette, it’s essentially a dome satchel, but making it a perfect oval instills enough of a twist to make the concept feel new. A front pouch is always a great and useful idea, and on a satchel like this, it’s unexpected. The result is a bag as unique as it is useful, one that brings to mind vintage glamour without resembling a retro relic. A perfect tribute, this is a revival that’s worthy and fitting of Ferragamo’s storied house. Salvatore Ferragamo Fiamma on My Theresaicon for $2,242.

Pair with: A wide-brim hat is a fall staple, and Maison Michel’s rabbit-felt brings a sense of ‘60s glam to the days you want to look a little mysterious. On NET-A-PORTERicon for $440.
