Frugal Snob: Maybelline Back to Black

Black-To-Black_model-shot

I went through a brief black polish phase circa 2005/6. It made sense since I tend to wear a lot of dark colors; black polish matched with more or less everything I was wearing, and if you accessories right, it doesn’t have to have a goth effect. I tired of it quickly, however, and moved on to darker shades of purple, red, and even blue when I was looking for a dark hue…I need variety! I’ve recently reverted however because of Maybelline’s killer selection via their Back to Black polishesicon. They retail for just $3.99 each, and include five variations on black…I haven’t been this excited about a dark polish since Deborah Lippmann came out with her black polish with red flecks (still an all-time fave). Maybelline’s collection includes Black Dust, a glittery top coat; Patent Black, a lustrous black; a textured black called Corrupted Black; a matte black called Black Matte; and a black top coat called Smokey. The glittery Black Dust layered on Black Matte is my fave. What do you guys think about the return of black polish?
