Myriam Schaefer James Satin and Crocodile Crossbody Bag: Night Moves

MyriamSchaefer_Crocodile_Crossbody_Bag

Here’s something you don’t see all too often: a vintage-inspired riff on ’30s Art Deco style that’s been revamped for the modern woman. Myriam Schaefer has done it with the James. She seems to know there is nothing as thoroughly current as a crossbody evening bag. Just think about how brilliant that combination is – along with the fact that you get to go hands-free so you can hold your champagne flute and sample some hors d’oeuvres without performing a balancing act. I’m imagining this bag, equally gorgeous in gray and navy, with a jumpsuit (which I wore recently to a black-tie event to great results!).

The beauty of the fantastic hardware that outlines the smooth satin body cannot be overstated. It’s a work of art, especially paired with the frame’s crocodile trim. The slinky strap won’t interfere with the most delicate of fabrics, and the front pocket makes for an added convenience. It also gives the bag so much more character than it would have otherwise. Satin pouch styles are a dime a dozen at vintage stores, and they feel stale. But there’s nothing stale about this. It oozes perfection down to every detail. Not that I’m surprised. It is, after all, from perfectionist Myriam Schaefer. On MATCHESFASHION.com for $3,491.

Wear with: The modern woman also isn’t afraid to reinterpret the elements of the tuxedo. DKNY”s black jumpsuit combines a sheer stretch-silk chiffon shirt and crepe trousers for a sexy yet menswear-inspired evening look. Exclusively on NET-A-PORTER for $495.
