After a harsh winter, I can’t wait to strap myself into Dior’s bright, flowery heels. For Spring/Summer 2014, Raf went back to nature, which if you think about it, is not that uncommon for designers. Florals were on virtually every runway this season. But there was nothing else like these ladylike pumps.
Ladies, we have an instant classic on our hands – and at our fingertips! The era of Raf Simons reign at Dior may prove to be the chicest yet (since Monsieur Dior, bien sûr). Especially if the visionary designer continues on the track he’s treading. The Diorbar bag is as ladylike as it gets in this day and age. Without resorting to overt fuss and showy logos.
Allow me to introduce you to the Diorling. Quintessentially Dior yet impeccably fresh for the modern girl, the Diorling is the perfect symphony of Raf Simons’ sense of understated chic and Dior’s unapologetically feminine glamour. It looks like Raf has wholeheartedly embraced the roots of the couture house, without losing sight of his own highly unique vision.
We know it’s not really a man’s world (it’s a Snob’s world), but the way fashion’s looking this fall, it’s certainly a menswear moment. From prints like trendy houndstooth and checks to tuxedo-inspired pieces, we just can’t seem to get enough. And while it’s always fun to borrow your boyfriend’s sweater, there’s something about getting the look tailored for a woman that’s even better…
It’s not everyday that we see a daringly different shoe that’s actually comfortable (lobster heels, while unusual, do not qualify as even marginally sensible footwear). Leave it to Raf Simons to defy expectations. He’s come up with the season’s most sophisticated shoe. The architectural heel is like a work of art, and yet somehow it’s completely wearable and unfussy.
This was the decade of the it bag. I don’t mean to say that there weren’t iconic bags before – the term “it bag” was coined in the ‘90s! And there were many (yes, Dior is on this list twice – no, I won’t apologize). Which of these styles did you carry?
