Dior Winter 2013: Low Heel, High Impact

It’s not everyday that we see a daringly different shoe that’s actually comfortable (lobster heels, while unusual, do not qualify as even marginally sensible footwear). Leave it to Raf Simons to defy expectations. He’s come up with the season’s most sophisticated shoe. The architectural heel is like a work of art, and yet somehow it’s completely wearable and unfussy.

Going Back in Time: Iconic Bags of the ‘90s

This was the decade of the it bag. I don’t mean to say that there weren’t iconic bags before – the term “it bag” was coined in the ‘90s! And there were many (yes, Dior is on this list twice – no, I won’t apologize). Which of these styles did you carry?

Celeb Trend: Cutout Dresses

From her pale pink Dior gown to this monochrome Vionnet, Carey Mulligan’s Cannes fashion was 100% on point. The Fall 2013 creation is all about the art of the tease with just one carefully placed keyhole and an aligned slit below. Carey even left the jewels at home and kept her makeup minimal – a […]

Christian Dior Resort 2014 Collection: Uncharted Waters

The Dior lady is still very much a lady, but when it comes to her vacation time, she’s in demand of some edge. Raf Simons said he “wanted to start with the clichés of what we all think about when we think about cruise” and decided to toy with fabrics he’s not used to. Like […]

Snob Quiz: Guess the Celeb

Which celeb recently rocked this gorgeous black and white Stella McCartney clutch and chic Dior shoes on the red carpet? I love that the bag’s marbled style is such a refreshing take on spring’s ubiquitous monochromatic trend. Before you sneak a peek at its owner on the jump page, I’ll give you a little clue […]

Celeb Trend: Orange Crush

This season celebs have been crushing on tangerine orange dresses, and I think I’ve caught the love bug myself! What better hue to welcome in the warmer months than juicy orange?? For the Vanity Fair Oscar party, Elizabeth Banks wore a floating, floral Alexander McQueen number. I think she could have gone without the tortoiseshell […]

Oscars Best Looks: Red Carpet Royalty

On the whole, the fashion at last night’s Oscars was very safe and boring, but it’s been that way for years. We all miss Björk‘s swan dress now and wish we hadn’t been so hard on her. As a punishment, we just have to accept that gowns will be only beautiful and elegant, and expect […]

The SAG Awards: And the Bag Award Goes to…

At last night’s SAG Awards, Naomi Watts was sheer perfection with barely there makeup and a bold red lip. Her old world glam Marchesa gown and elegant Ferragamo clutch made her into a modern screen goddess. And I was so happy that Jessica Chastain went back to McQueen. Her gold-embroidered Oscars gown last year was such a standout, and […]

Couture Spring 2013 Roundup: Fancy Pants

The pant made a big statement at the couture shows, on its own and ironically, even more so under gowns. Valli did it best with glamorous flair, seamlessly integrating matching trousers underneath billowing gowns. I loved the entire collection. Armani also played around with the style, taking the pantsuit to an entirely different level with […]
