Predictions for 2006

Here we go, as one must, commit to print and be laughed at later when we are all wrong. But for the BagSnob, we are certain that 2006 will bring change to this world of bohemia that we so dread. Don’t get us wrong, we LOVE Moulin Rouge, its our favorite movie, but lets leave Bohemia to the oh-so-talented, charmingly and tragically impoverished artists and indulge us with expensive, excessive and principle bending desires. Sienna Miller and the dwarf twins – you are out, you must leave. Auf wiedersehen.

So here it is, we are predicting feminine, pretty and ladylike handbags. And for the expensive and excessive trend? CROC!! Crocs will dominate the scene to the point where they become extinct this year. Seriously.

Hermes has refashioned the Kelly to be slimmer and more ladylike. The Marc Jacobs Beth in white croc is the perfect example of the pretty and feminine trend we will be seeing a lot more of.

  1. Your blog rocks!

I completely agree with and hope that your bag prediction will come true in 2006! Enough with the slouchy, monstroulsy over-sized studded bags already!

  2. Love the Croc bags! I am waiting for Ostrich to make an appearance. What do you think??? Big Croc bags are the best.

  3. I don’t think you are wrong at all about the trend. But not all croc is genuine crocodile. I understand you were using literary creativity when you said that crocodiles will become extinct, but it is actually not funny.

It would not be a good thing, obviously. The fashion community even has a strong case against it: there would be no more exotic and genuine crocodile skin to make accessories from. Luckily, most people don’t go the over-the-top luxury and expense route, and croc-embossed will be more of a “trend” than genuine exotic skins.

Also, on a less-serious style note: the ladylike bags like the Marc Jacobs are lovely, but I’m also big into the large bag trend. I love fitting my sunglasses into a purse.

(On a technical note, if I fill in my info and THEN check “remember info,” it disappears from the form.)
