HOORAY HENRY

London Fashion Week

This is first story from Louise Hill, our Guest Editor At Large, who is a writer for a major fashion magazine based in London. We are excited to have her write for us and we hope you enjoy the fresh perspective from across the pond.

It’s good to know not all designers are the crazy egomaniacs we expect them to be. At recent London shows, two of our top boys showed their silly side sporting cheeky slogan t-shirts from the ingenious, if somewhat unlikely, design duo, House of Holland.

The command to ‘GET YER FREAK ON GILES DEACON’ swamped the waif-like Gareth Pugh and was tempered by a more substantial Giles Deacon in monochrome messaged ‘UHU GARET PUGH’ number when taking their final bows.

House of Holland was born when teen-fashion guru Henry, who works on British teen mag Bliss, and Chris Williams, his graphic designer buddy, started creating the loud and proud t-shirts with irreverent and cheeky slogans inspired by their favourite ‘celebs and plebs’.

They struck it lucky when Style.com noticed their in-your-lap technicolour tees and slapped them on the site double quick as part of LFW coverage. They even name check Anna Wintour on their site, houseofholland.co.uk, but I can’t quite see A.W rocking up to a benefit luncheon with the words ‘DO ME DAILY CHRISTOPHER BAILEY’ emblazoned across her chest, just yet.
