Elie Saab for the Oscars

Elie Saab’s Spring Couture Collection is unbelievably glamorous and he’s got celebrities lined up to wear his gowns for the big show so for some mindless fun and entertainment here is a look at who might wear what for the Oscars. Not that I am trying to take over Andre Talley Leon’s job but these are my picks for the gowns I love.

This just screams Elizabeth Hurley. The color, the beaded waist and the flared out detail is just so her. She has the perfect body for this gown with her small waist and long legs.

This super cute dress with attitude is definitely for Reese Witherspoon. It is no time for her play conservative these days, this look exudes confidence and says, “I am having fun being single!!”

This might be a little scary for her bust, but fitted properly I think Drew Barrymore would be sexy and adorable in this. The empire waist is good for her figure and the sweet ribbon bow goes perfectly with her perky personality.

For Cameron Diaz this one shoulder gown may be too similar to her Golden Globe number but maybe that’s why all I can see is Cameron when I look at this gown. She has the long legs for this layered skirt and the bust is great for the not particularly busty. The color is also nice for her fair complexion especially if she decides to stay brunette.

This is a gorgeous dress but hard to wear. You really need to be long, lean and ultra leggy so who else but Nicole Kidman was this made for? It is certainly not a huge departure for her (not that she is especially experimental), she would look absolutely amazing in this.

I don’t think anyone who will disagree with me that this was designed specifically with Jennifer Lopez in mind. The shimmer, the high slit, the slightly showgirl appeal and the interesting sleeve swag is all J. Lo.

  1. Gosh, Bag Snob, I wish I knew how to send you the link my lookbook on Style.com! I have an Elie Saab there that just screams Liz! So many looks in the Saab show brought to my mind gorgeous shimmering sirens. The fabrics just look so fluid! Another favorite of mine is the dress you chose of J. Lo. The dress you chose for Nicole Kidman is so perfect for her as she is so statuesque, and her alabaster skin would suit the color so well. I do sort of feel that Cameron should just steer clear of the long ruffled skirts for a while, and that something from the Valentino collection may suit Reese’s new single status. How did you find the Dior collection though?? Brook , London

  2. These dresses are breathtaking, I’d like the one you suggested for Reese (even though I’m happily married, I still like to have fun) and the one for Drew Barrymore. I am so excited for the oscars!
