Confessions of a cheating heart

odlrbagblkpythonframeclutch.jpg

Dear God/Buddha/Allah/and whoever is listening,  I have a confession.  For over 15 years I have been happily faithful to Hermes.  Sure, I’ll dabble here and there with other bags from different brands but never have I committed the same dedication to collecting a designer the way I have Hermes (not even Chanel!)– from bags, jewelry, shoes, scarves, belts, sweaters, china, I have it all.  But recently, I find my heart yearning for all things Oscar (as in Mr. de la Renta, not the little gold statue).  I thought it was a passing fancy of a roaming eye but I think this is true love; first the Doheny clutch caught my attention, then I fell hard for the blue bubble dress, followed by an irresistible blue alligator Alden that beckoned me, and now the Goya…. the gleaming, supple, curvaceous and gorgeous Goya… this is no May-November romance!  My heart has been stolen and I must confess that I don’t feel a bit guilty (and it’s due in no small part to meeting Mr. de la Renta on several occasions and being thoroughly charmed by him!).  Plus that’s your job right?  I confess and you bear the burden of my guilt?  So thanks, I feel much better.  Because Oscar also has an amazing line of jewelry by Lou Lou de la Falaise that I am lusting for, delicious cashmere sweaters that I want for Fall, and everything else that a girl needs to be beautiful (crocodile platforms, ostrich belts, the list goes on!).  Please don’t judge my cheating heart.  I can’t help who I love.  Thank you again for listening.  Love, Tina
P.S.(Look at all these new bags just arrived at the boutiques, how can anyone blame me for loving them?)

  1. Tina love it!!! you are so not good for my bank balance, me and my boyfriend are trying to purchase ourselves a lovely large house to settle down in, only with me needing to have so many bags, shoes, books and diamonds of course I can’t see me having more than just a wardrobe stuff full of goodies!!

I once thought it was really sad not having an ODLR store in London and only seeing a small capsule in Harrods but, I think it is possibly a good thing that Mindy and the stores are thousands of miles away!

Do let us know what you purchase, I think your bag diet is going to take some willpower…is it a diet that you are forever starting tomorrow?! =)

I do love the Red croc clutch when i last spoke to Mindy she said it only came in matt finishes is this a new selection for fall?! The black pyhton clutch looks stunning with the flash of bone at the top…..hasn’t Anya H designed a clutch similar to this one?

  2. AHHHHH…. the mary jane platforms is to die for!!!! so is the red clutch. bagsnob, i do miss hermes postings…..

  3. I have the Larrabe from last year in python and it’s the most incredible skin. I have an Anya python and it does not come close. I think Oscar bags are of much better quality and can not compared to Anya Hindmarch, whose bags I also like but they’re more fun trendy bags you buy each season. Not serious investments like an Oscar bag.

  4. T~~OMGOODNESSSSSSS!!!!! EVERYTHING is SO BEAUTIFUL, ODLR is just AMAZING! I love him SO!!!! I have a Black Tie affair coming up, and I was just thinking this AM which clutch will I be dressing with me, well look NO FURTHER!!! I’ve found it!!!! THX!!! =) Black Python and the liazrd clutch both have my name written ALL over it!!!

    B..xox…

Lottie, You are lucky indeed you dont have as ODLR boutique near you. I HAVE EVERYTHING NEAR ME, and let me tell you its not pretty.

Well, my closet is pretty, but my bank acct.

    NOT SO!!!!

  5. Tina, you are so funny..Hermes and Chanel have been at the very top of my list for years, but recently ODLR has been creeping up there. I always felt too young to wear his clothes, but heck..I am 36 now…I am loving the fall ODLR collection.

    xoxo

  6. Yes,the black clutch is wonderful and I like all the rest too. What a good thing that OR is sold nowhere close to where I live!

  7. B- you go to the Vegas one, right? That lizard clutch is fab. Serious fab. Every time I do events for ODLR I end up shopping for myself and ignoring the guests. So rude of me, I know!

Have you seen the jewelry from Lou Lou? Rough cut diamonds and baroque pearls, to die!!!

  8. Julie, His dresses are to die. So youthful and flirtatious. Or maybe it’s because I’m over 30 now, too. haha

Whatever the case, it’s addictive and I tremble with fear going home with everything in the store! The girls are so welcoming and they plie you with gorgeous frock after frock, it’s hard to say no when everyone (including yourself) is ooooooooooooing and ahhhhhhhhing over your reflection in the mirror.

My Oscar dresses are hanging front and center in my closet and always cleaned, pressed and ready for action. I’m going to a wedding tomorrow night and I don’t even have to think about it. Just going to grab one of the beautiful Oscar dresses I have.

    xoxo

  9. There is no ODLR boutique in Chicago, but fortunately (or perhaps unortunately?) my Neiman’s SA can get the entire collection. My fall/winter wardrobe is shaping up quite nicely…

    xoxo

  10. I agree with Lottie, that clutch reminds me of Anya Hindmarch design. Even so, I am as much in love as I am with Hermes and Chanel…I am sure your sins will be forgiven Tina;)

  11. Tina~~ YES I’m in VEGAS!! BABY!!!! how’d you know? must of been from the Tee I won from ya’ll…YES, have seen Lou Lou’s jewelry, and YES TO DIE FOR DARLING!!!!

    B..xox

  12. You guys are making me so jealous…It’s about time for ODLR to come to Chicago. There is room on Oak street, between Hermes and YSL (my other obsessions).

    xoxo

  13. Julie, Don’t be jealous. You got some good shopping in Chicago. call Mindy she can ship anything to ya…(LOVE the windy city!!)

  14. T~~ or from my IP address, DUH!!

Julie, Don’t be jealous, You’ve got some good shopping in Chicago, call Mindy she will ship anything to ya…(LOVE the windy city!!)

    B..xx

  15. Lotte, you are right. The shiny alligator Graftons are new. The matte alligator Grafton is what Victoria Beckham was carrying with the green Ikat dress at the ODLR SS 08 show.

  16. Every season, I always include a bag or two by Oscar de la Renta. Last season, I bought the white patent Doheny clutch; the beaded, sequined, zebra, and satin clutch; and the red crocodile little box clutch with the gem on top.

This season, I bought the beautiful goya bag in grey stingray.

Along with my Hermes, Chanel, YSL, Tod’s, Lanvin, Balenciaga, Gucci, Valentino, Chloe, etc. there will always be an Oscar piece. I’m not loyal to any one label. Oh my God, I guess you can call me a handbag whore…

  17. Darling,

I prefer the word “collector” 🙂

I, too, have an abundance of Chanel, Tods, Chloe, Balenciaga, etc but I don’t collect any of those brands. I just buy at whim.

Hermes is the only one I’ve been serious about. And now, Oscar, who is way better because he has better clothes!!!!! Hermes clothes are beautiful but too classic.

Have you seen the Oscar home decor by special order? The furniture is to die!!!

  18. Tina~speaking of my shirt, I wore it today, so comfy!! Thx! =) going to OLDR later, shops here are open till midnight on weekends, isnt that GREAT!?!?! GOTTA LOVE VEGAS!!! (let me know if you need anything)

    Hee Hee!!

  19. Tina & Kelly, I know you are attending Fashion wk soon so hopefully you will be able to answer my question?!

When stars like Victoria Beckham/Jennifer Lopez attend NY Fashion wk and are wearing an outfit from the designer they are watching are they dressed by the designer or do they purchase the clothes themselves?

If they are dressed by the designer is it right they have to return clothes once they have been photgraphed in them?

Thanks for clearing this one up!

    L.xo

  20. Hi Lottie,

most actresses buy the clothes from the boutiques at a VIP discount. When it comes to red carpet gowns, however– they are often loaned to them.

    xoxo

  21. Thanks for clearing that up for me Tina…are you one of the lucky ones that gets to have a VIP outfit choice or is it only for the big stars that will get papped? Not that your not a Star of Bagsnob of course!! =)

    L.xo

P.S. It just seems so unfair that those that have buckets of money get so much more given and discounted how does this work!?
