Makeup Artist Tips for the Eyes

I went to a Beauty Brunch event recently and opted for the makeover, which I always love to do. I am always curious to learn the beauty secrets each make up artist invariably have. My very cute makeup artist Stevi Christine at the Warren Tricomi Salon gave me tips on my 2 biggest problem areas, brows and lashes!! My problems being that I lack both fullness and length. She decided to put fake lashes in, uh, I was on my way to Malibu for an outdoor event and thought it might be a bit too much but she assured me that with shorter individuals, I could get away with it. And of course she was right. But her trick was in the lining of my eyes after the lashes were on with the Laura Mercier Eye Liner ($20). Once you have falsies in, a heavy eyeliner on top of this will definitely put you over to a disco party look. It is just way way too too much. But she did something that I questioned at first. She lined my eyes from below, as in, she went in from under my lashes. She used the Laura Mercier Flat Eye Liner Brush ($25) with the specially made soft straight brush, which she wet. The super flexible brush allowed the bristles to go in between the lashes and line exactly where the lash line is. The result is very natural and soft and allowed me to wear fake lashes without going over the top. But the impact is huge, it made the lashes look even fuller and more prominent. You get more for less, as in, you can go shorter on the lash length for the same amount of ooomph. I wore falsies for daytime everyday for a week after that.

The other trick was a product that I now cannot live without.Kevyn Aucoin The Precision Brow Pencil ($24) with attached grooming brush on the other end. The pencil goes on light so you can feather in the lines for natural, non-Groucho Marx brows.  This is way easier to control than trying to use brush and powder, which is especially important for the ends.  I find that I can do my brows so much quicker, too, with this pencil.

  1. Amazing Insight!!!! I have been guilty of using “fakies” and looking like I was going to a costume party. This is a greta way to make it look natural and understated. Thank you very much! Please bring your makeup artist expert back for more tips!!!! I COULD DEFINITELY USE THEM! 🙂 XO,

  2. I was going to attend a wedding with many old High School friends..I wanted to look fabulous..Stevi Christine did my makeup..and boy did I look HOT and felt like I was 21 again. I really loved the way she did my eyebrows and the lashes were so natural that I “forgot” I had them on.. The best product Stevi suggested was Kevyn Aucoin-The Sensual Skin Enhancer to cover the dark circles under my eyes. What a great product !! I couldn’t thank her enough …

  3. I have been using the LM eyeliner for years, it’s always been a staple and now I am so excited to know about the KA precision brow pencil. Anything that Stevie tells me to use, I do!
