Frugal Snob: Burt’s Bee Radiance Kit

Burt's Bee.jpg I’ve never used anything from Burt’s Bee despite passing a huge display at Bed, Bath and Beyond at some point pretty much every week so when I received Burt’s Bees Radiance Healthy Glow Kit ($15.99) I was excited to try out the different products. The kit comes with a LOT to play with! Its got: Mini Exfoliating Body Bar, Exfoliating Body Wash, Mini Body Lotion, Day Creme, Night Creme, Eye Creme (packette), and Full Size Lip Shimmer. Each product contains Royal Jelly which is packed with 134 nutrients, including 17 amino acids, and vitamins A, C, D and K, as well as multiple B-vitamins. I tried the Body Lotion (a slight shimmer), Body Wash (just the right amount of foam), and the Body Bar (is it just me or have solid soaps almost gone extinct!). The line kind of makes me think of Yes to Carrots because its got this earthy, natural feel to it and both lines definitely have a handful of products that can convert Sephora Snobs into Frugal ones:) Have you tried Burt’s Bee? I’ve heard their Lip Balm is wonderful as well — share your thoughts!

DO YOU LOVE IT OR HATE IT?

  1. The products are good, especially the lip balm. They compare to Kiehls. They used to only be sold in Health Food Stores, but are now mainstream.

  2. I’m delurking after many months of reading to warn everyone about the stench of the Honey Lip Balm – I picked it up after noticing that it’d won a CEW Beauty Editors award. Then I put it on, and it REEKED. It works but has a totally unappealing smell to it – like compost. There’s just something really off about it – my BF won’t come anywhere near me if I’m wearing it.

In more positive news, BB’s “Replenishing” Lip Balm w/pomegranate oil has a lovely, light sheen to it, and smells and tastes amazing. A great substitute.

  3. Hahah that’s funny my bf used to not come near me when I would wear l’occitane’s milk cream and givenchy’s no surgetics but I refused to stop applying them and now he’s immune:) Also agree about Kiehls personally besides their cream deodorant haven’t found much from them that I’ve been happy with…

  4. Maybe you got a bad one because I have been using the honey lip balm, the stick version, for over a year and it always smells, very softly and nicely, like honey. I LOVE IT. It is the only thing that keep my lips from getting chapped during the winter, and it’s not overly greasy and it serves as a fantastic base for gloss and lipstick.

I also recently forayed into the realm of burts bees shampoo and conditioner, and they are really nice, despite being found at drug stores, their hair products make my super curly hair more manageable and softer than any of the more expensive hair products I have EVER used (Bumble & Bumble, Fekkai, Kerastase, Tony and Guy…)

In short, I love Burts Bees, and everyone should REALLY try it out.

  5. LOVE burt’s bees’ chapstick (the original one only, though)! i’ve been using it for about 5 years now. even my DAD uses it (:

  6. You do get used to the honey lip balm….I picked one up for DH in error, and it was tough for me to get used to. The original lip balm is still my favorite.

Huge fan of Burts, here…My fine hair especially likes the volumizing Pomegranate Shampoo and Conditioner.

  7. yes, burt’s bees lip balm is the best! the original is my fave but i also like the pomegranate kind; i reach for that whenever i can’t find my other one

  8. I like original Burt’s Bees Lip Balm, but the Honey is better for the Winter. It is more moisturizing and I happen to like the smell. It kind of reminds me of baby products.

  9. I have always liked Burt’s Bees products, that is until I tried E BURNHAM’S Lip Session. It used to be sold in stores, but I can find it only thru the E Burnham website. Check it out. I love it so much, I am tempted to buy a case and give it to my friends.
