Runway Trend: Face Adornments

I can’t get the Valentino and Givenchy Haute Couture shows out of my mind. While neither of the two ranked among my favorites this season, I loved how they incorporated face adornments to complement the clothing. Of course they did it to an extreme extent that wouldn’t translate into everyday fashion, but I like the idea of working with the head and face beyond makeup and traditional hair/head accessories to complement a look. I’m not gonna lie I totally want the bunny ears Marc Jacobs designed for the Fall 2009 Louis Vuitton collection — unfortunately ones that look like the pair Madonna wore to the Met Gala will not be sold. They’ll only be carrying, come fall, a smaller modified version with the bunny ears attached to a headband. What do you think about face/head adornments beyond the traditional headband, barrette, etc.?

DO YOU LOVE IT OR HATE IT?

  1. Love these prop details of runway shows because I know a good craftsman or team of craftsmen were hired to do them. I’m always for handmade. 😀

  2. These are so beautifully made and look amazing on the runway or Lady Gaga. But in real life it just looks like you’re auditioning for Phantom of the Opera.
