Oscar de la Renta “Taylor” Python hobo

Each season, I choose an Oscar de la Renta bag (or two… or three…) to add to my collection. This fall, I’m eyeing the “Taylor” python hobo. The bag itself is a simple classic shape that Oscar has done time and again but the handle offers a naughty twist– it’s hand woven from leather and metal chain! I know, total rock star worthy (and you should see the studded knee high boots!  Why Oscar, I had no idea you loved studs like me!).  The details and workmanship in the handle is purely haute couture (Oscar’s specialty!)  But don’t worry, it’s not heavy because python skin is super lightweight and is the best skin to combine metal with.  This particular python skin Oscar used is really sublime and comes in delicious shades of frothing cream and coffee.  The “Taylor” python tote is

  1. It looks like the handle is black and the bag has mostly brown/cream tones. Have you seen this in person? The handle seems out of place to me.

  2. Luscious, what do you think of the Gucci python hobo this season? Is this better? Its a lot less and do you think this is a better investment?

  3. I saw this in the New York store today. The handle actually has more metal in it than you can see here and looks hand woven. It’s chocolate brown leather and bronze metal. I like the artisanal aspect to it.

  4. The handle is what I like about this bag. Clearly it pops out. Maybe if the snake skin were in another shade or shape..

  5. This bag looks blah! The handle is definitely out of place and the overall look is non-special. This could have been designed by anyone actually!
