Body Conscience: 3-Minute Shower

A cool new eco-friendly line of products has just launched this month at C.O. Bigelow and Apothia at Fred Segal. It’s called Body Conscience and it was started by a chemist named

Barbara Schiller. Schiller has hyper-sensitive skin so she wanted to develop a line that was so mild that it was actually edible (ironically a number of the products look like blocks of chocolate!). Everything in the line is free of sulfates, petrochemicals, parabens, synthetic colors, dmdm hydantoin preservative, etc. To boot the products are created with fair trade vendor/partners, biodegradable, cruelty-free, devoted to packaging made of post-consumer recycled and recyclable materials derived from sustainable sources, and green (they have a refill program that lets you re-use the Body Conscience containers). The line launched with 16 products and their signature product is their 3-Minute Shower Body Polish ($85 for a 6-oz. set of three bars and $75 for a 9.5-oz. jar, refill pouches are $65 pouch), which is meant to cleanse, exfoliate and moisturize all at the same time thus reducing shower time and saving water. More after the jump!

Body Conscience products come in three scents — Renew which is for all skin types (white orchid vanilla), Nourish for sensitive skin (champaka,

pink peppercorn and neroli — Nourish is also free of nuts for those that have nut allergies), and Invigorate for vigorous exfoliation (earthy amber and black cardamom blend). Besides the Polish, the Body Conscience line also includes. among other things, Body Veil Dry-Oil Spray ($75), Wearever

Whenever Body Balm ($65 for a set of three — great on-the-go creams now that the weather is leaving skin very try), and

Pedipebbles to sooth tired feet ($75 for 12 pebbles).

  1. I can show you a few DOZEN bath and body sites online that make these bars – same formula – for only a few dollars.

You can also find all the ingredients to make these bars at home on sites like From Nature With Love. All you need is shea butter, cocoa butter, soy wax or beeswax, fruit seeds or ground pumice, and fragrance.

    I’ve sold these for years.
