Celebrity Skincare Secrets from Renée Rouleau

In my 20+ years of being an esthetician, I have had the honor of working with celebrities (Melissa Rycroft (pictured here), Jessica Simpson, Ashlee Simpson and Ali Landry, to name a few) who have trusted me to get their skin looking and feeling its best. Here is what I know to be true.

Secret #1 They are loyal to their skin care products

Being in the public eye, the worst fear a celebrity has is being ridiculed for the way they look–especially their skin–which is so closely tied to self-esteem. So when it comes to their home care skin routine, they won’t change if something is working well. They don’t want to risk possible negative reactions from experimenting with too many skin care products. But I do believe it’s not a good idea to be switching all the time. If you find something that works, stick with it.

Secret #2 They use non-injectable fillers

When auditioning for movie rolls, celebrities often forgo their Botox® Cosmetic so their emotions can come through in their facial expressions. But for events and parties, they still want to look fabulous. Celebrities are turning to Hyaluronic Acid Filling Spheres. This ingredient resembles tiny micro-sponges. When applied to the surface of the skin, the spheres enter into the lines and wrinkles and penetrate the upper layers of the epidermis. The Hyaluronic Filling Spheres rehydrate with the water in skin, plumping up lines and wrinkles, making them less noticeable for up to ten hours. Renée Rouleau Instant Line Filler is the injection-free, surgery-free and pain-free answer to visibly smoother, less lined skin.

Secret #3 They get constant facials

Chemical peels, oxygen treatments, microdermabrasion, ultrasound exfoliation, LED light, micro current…they do it all, oftentimes on a weekly basis. They are in the public eye so their skin needs to look its best so they receive all the latest technology that skincare treatments offer.

Secret #4 They stay out of the sun

The long-term career of female actors depends largely on how young and how good they look. They wish it wasn’t that way, but it is. The #1 reason why anyone will get a wrinkle is from sun damage so wearing an SPF moisturizer applied generously on the face and neck, 365 days a year, rain or shine, inside or out, is a must. Marcia Cross, Madonna and Nicole Kidman are known for staying out of the sun. They wear hats, sunglasses and long sleeve shirts to keep their skin looking flawless.

Secret #5 They are going natural

The trend of using less chemicals and more natural ingredients on their skin is in full force. Avoiding skincare products with artificial fragrances, artificial colorants and sulfates (drying detergents found in foaming cleansers) is a must for many celebrities. And testing products on animals is definitely a no-no. Alicia Silverstone and Pamela Anderson are famous for their ties with PETA (People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals).

Secret # 6 Their flaws are airbrushed

Celebrities are humans, too. They get break outs, sensitivity and wrinkles just like all of us. And the truth is, the way your skin behaves is directly tied to your genetics. So the magic of airbrushed photos make their skin look flawless.
