Emma Watson’s Burberry Corded Check Suede Tote: Snob or Slob?

Burberry’s handbags have been amazing these last few seasons. Now that they’re finally getting away from all that plaid overkill they’ve really come out with some amazing designs. The Corded Check Suede Tote Bag ($1,795) that Emma Watson is toting in the Burberry ad pictured above is from the fall/winter 2009 runway show. The tote has alligator leather trims and cord threads woven into the body so there’s a light pattern. I like that the leather handles are only slightly darker than the body of the bag — the light contrasts keeps the tote from being obtrusive despite having a prominently placed pattern. The only drawback is that the bag has an open top (I always get stressed when my bags don’t zip…they’re too many sticky fingers these days).

What do you think about the Corded Check Suede Tote? Snob or Slob?

DO YOU LOVE IT OR HATE IT?

  1. I adore this bag. From the moment I saw it in the ads I adored it; and I agree I enjoy their bags much more now that they’ve ventured from their original concept.

  2. Love the bag with the trench! Although I have to agree I hate bags that don’t zip up. Always worry I’m going do loose something.

  3. ah yes, soft and fuzzy, I too like a zip or closure on a bag, living near Manhattan,

Yes, I lock my Birkin when in the city.

  4. I like to buy bags with zips too. This bag actually looks decent to me especially without those plaid but the price is on the high side.

  5. Snob all the way. The color is really pretty.I bought a Burberry bag recently at the local Burberry store. A beautiful hobo bag on sale. The associate found it in the back, as I didn’t like what was out. Black, soft leather with a gathered pocket across the front . Gunmetal hardware and it zips across the top.I agree , I much prefer a zip top. It was 1/2 price. It’s rare for me to find a bag on sale that I really love .It’s very understated, but class all the way!

  6. I love the bag but I think the handles are too small for the size of the bag. If you can only carry it in your hands or arm, as EW is, it would get too heavy very quickly.

  7. Love it BUT I don’t think large bags should be hand/arm option only. Eventually you just

WANT to be able to heft it comfortably on your shoulder and this looks like one of those most assuredly. 7″ is what it takes (drop length). No pun intended. Well….:-)
